Swiss Re pushes talent up the ladder with senior leadership moves
Global reinsurer Swiss Re has unveiled senior leadership changes in the US including a new managing director of national accounts and head of financial & professional lines casualty North America.
The reinsurer has moved its head of global specialty Greg Schiffer to head of US national accounts. Schiffer has spent more than 25 years in various leadership roles at Swiss Re. He most recently led the global special lines business unit that generated $4.5 billion of premium annually, where he oversaw credit & surety, cyber and engineering lines of business globally. He was also responsible for a global team underwriting facultative and treaty business.
Lisa Butera, a long-serving executive of Swiss Re, has been appointed as head of financial & professional lines (FinPro) and casualty North America, Swiss Re Corporate Solutions. Her appointment is effective from July 17, 2023.
In her new role, Butera will be responsible for leading Swiss Re Corporate Solutions’, the commercial insurance arm of Swiss Re Group’s, FinPro and casualty business in the US and Canada. She will be based in New York City and join the North America regional management team to drive strategic direction across the region. Butera will report to Katie McGrath, CEO North America, Swiss Re Corporate Solutions
Butera has over three decades of leadership experience in the insurance and reinsurance space – particularly in FinPro lines. She most recently served as head P&C clients markets US in the reinsurance division at Swiss Re. Prior to her role at Swiss Re, Butera held several leadership positions at AIG for more than 12 years.
