Swiss Re duo to lead new business unit at Dale Underwriting
Dale Underwriting Partners, which is managed by Lloyd’s third-party managing agency Asta, has announced the launch of its new contingency and sports personal accident business.
The operations will be led by Martin Lawson, who will be joined by Richard Appleton. Both the executives are due to join the syndicate in July, reporting to Dale's director and head of property insurance Ian Bridge.
Lawson was most recently a senior underwriter at Swiss Re, having previously underwritten the class at InterHannover. Appleton was also at Swiss Re, having started his career as a broker with Aon.
The new operations will focus on event cancellation, non-appearance, prize indemnity and European sports personal accident business, which will predominantly constitute new business to Lloyd’s, the company said.
Duncan Dale, CEO of Dale Underwriting Partners, said: "We are pleased to be welcoming Martin and Richard to the Dale team. Their approach to underwriting is consistent with Dale’s culture and underwriting strategy."
