Stephen Catlin re-emerges at private equity firm

Insurance veteran Stephen Catlin joined private equity firm Aquiline Capital Partners as a senior advisor at the end of 2017.

Catlin, who founded the Catlin Group, stepped down as executive deputy chairman of the XL Group last year.

At the 2017 MGAA conference in London on July 4, he had  suggested that he was not in the mood for retiring yet and that he was looking for a new role.

At Aquiline, Catlin will be responsible for advising on insurance industry investments, including insurance technology, and will be a resource for Aquiline's investment teams.

“Aquiline has an unmatched reputation as an investor in the insurance industry with a respected team of industry veterans who have extensive operating experience,” Catlin said.

“I look forward to working with them and applying my decades of industry expertise to identify opportunistic new investments and help to strategically grow their portfolio companies.”
