Starr Insurance mines Alleghany post-Berkshire for investment leader
Starr Insurance plucked a SVP and chief investment officer from re/insurance group Alleghany, just months after it was taken up by Berkshire Hathaway, to replace its own departing investment leader.
John Shannon (pictured) will step in as chief investment officer, filling in as John Patin, senior investment officer, has resigned his position for personal reasons.
Shannon served as senior vice president and chief investment officer at Alleghany, which Berkshire Hathaway acquired in October 2022.
Prior to Alleghany, Shannon spent more than 11 years at MetLife Investments as vice president of global portfolio management, following five years at Prudential Financial as an investment analyst.
