Skuld makes senior hire to target growth in North America

Marine insurance provider Skuld has appointed Rachael Simpson as senior vice president, London P&I (protection and indemnity) operations.

Simpson’s primary focus will be on business development in North America, according to the press release. She will report to Matthew Burton, head of London P&I, and assumes her new role in March 2018.

Simpson has over 20 years of P&I experience. She will join from Steamship Mutual where she is the underwriting manager for its American business. Prior to this, Simpson has held increasingly senior broking roles at Aon, Benfield Corporate Risk Limited and Marsh.

Ståle Hansen, Skuld president and CEO, said: "The North American market has been a growth area for Skuld these past years, with strong development and performance noted across all classes of P&I: mutual, fixed, charterers and offshore. Recruiting Rachael clearly demonstrates not only our commitment to our London P&I operations, but our intent to develop further our business in North America.

"We will continue to provide innovative solutions to the region’s broadening risk profile and invest in our capability to service claims through our highly regarded New York office led by Charles Anderson, as well as through our team in Oslo led by Simone Ingeberg, in close cooperation with our London team under Rachel and Matthew."
