SCOR snaps up Chubb’s ‘extraordinary’ environmental risk talent for global role

French reinsurer  SCOR has hired an “extraordinarily talented” environmental risk specialist from insurer  Chubb to drive its global environmental impairment liability (EIL) insurance portfolio.

Emma Bartolo (Pictured) will join SCOR as the global segment leader for its EIL insurance portfolio in February 2023. Based in London, she will report to Marie Biggas, chief underwriting officer of SCOR UK and active underwriter of the SCOR Syndicate, and Daniel Carreras, global line head, specialty & casualty.

Bartolo most recently held the position of London corporate regional manager at Chubb, where she was responsible for the delivery of the middle-market strategy and financial plan in London. Prior to this, she held a number of senior positions at Chubb, including environmental risk manager for the UK & Ireland.  She joined Chubb in 2008.

Biggas described Bartolo as an “extraordinarily talented environmental risk specialist” with deep knowledge of the field. He believes her collaborative approach to leadership will be “instrumental in driving the growth of our EIL portfolio.”

Carreras added: “This appointment underscores our commitment to providing leadership in this important line of business. We are proud to be able to attract talented individuals to the team here at SCOR. Emma’s strong scientific background is extremely impressive, and her exceptional underwriting capabilities will ensure that we continue to provide our clients with the best possible solutions.”.
