SCOR elects new CEO of Canadian reinsurance arm as El-Sayegh departs

French reinsurer SCOR has selected Paul Christoff as president and CEO of SCOR Canada Reinsurance Company, subject to necessary regulatory approvals.

He replaces Joseph El-Sayegh, who joined SCOR in 2000 and until now served as president and CEO of SCOR Canada. El-Sayegh has left the company to pursue other career opportunities.

Christoff will retain his responsibilities as managing director and chief financial officer of the Americas Hub. Prior to joining SCOR in 2009, he held senior positions in the P&C industry, both in operations and finance.

Jean-Paul Conoscente, CEO of SCOR Global P&C, said: “We wish Joseph well in his future endeavors after 19 years of active service at SCOR, notably at the helm of SCOR Canada which is firmly established as a Tier 1 reinsurer with long-standing business relationships on this market.”

Carol Lyons, chair of SCOR Canada’s board of directors, added: “SCOR is a key player in the Canadian marketplace and has a demonstrated track record of success. We are excited to welcome Paul to the team and look forward to his contribution to the company’s continued achievement of its goals.”
