QBE enters marine partnership with Proteus
Re/insurer QBE, marine underwriting agency Proteus, and Australian broking group Steadfast have entered a strategic partnership in the marine insurance segment.
As part of the partnership, Proteus will act as the underwriting agent for QBE for Steadfast brokers’ new business from 1 May.
Proteus, part of the NM Insurance Group, is a specialist underwriting agency within the commercial marine sector, including cargo, carriers, commercial hull and marine liability lines.
Jason Clarke, executive general manager of intermediary distribution at QBE said: "This is a great opportunity for QBE to work collaboratively with Proteus and Steadfast to deliver an exceptional end-to-end customer experience for the marine sector in Australia, lending QBE’s global expertise in marine insurance to the offering."
Lyndon Turner, chief executive officer of NM Insurance, added: “Marine Insurance is at the core of what NM Insurance stands for, and we look forward to working with our partners to maximise the opportunities they have in this sector, and continue to be a partner of choice nationwide."
Robert Kelly, chief executive officer and managing director of Steadfast Group, commented: "QBE and Steadfast have a strong working relationship and I am sure this venture will build on the strength of both companies to further our expansion into the commercial marine market."
