After 20 years as chief economist at James Capel, he joined Standard Life Investments as chief investment officer in 1999 and served on the board of Standard Life, initially as CEO of Standard Life investments and then as CEO of Standard Life and Standard Life Aberdeen.
Since retiring from executive life in 2020, Skeoch has built a broad portfolio of non-executive roles, including chairing the Financial Reporting Council until late 2021 having served as a non-executive director for nine years. He also chaired HMT’s Ring Fencing and Proprietary Trading Review and chaired the Investment Association stepping down in September 2022 and he currently chairs both the Edinburgh International Festival and Pre-Emption Group.
In his new role, Skeoch will work closely with Jason Harris, CEO of QBE International, to drive forward QBE’s strategic ambitions.
Harris said: “Keith's considerable experience will be invaluable to our European Operations business. I look forward to working closely with him in the coming years to make our business a continued success.”
He added: “I would like to thank Tim for his tremendous impact on the European Operations business during his nine-year tenure and wish him all the best in his retirement.”
