QBE continues financial lines expansion with Berkshire duo
Re/insurer QBE North America has hired Berkshire Hathaway's Dan Fortin and Todd Greeley to further expand its financial lines business unit, building upon its existing management, professional and transactional liability practices.
Fortin has been appointed president of financial lines, and Greeley as chief operating officer (COO) of the unit.
The new hires reflect QBE's strategy to invest in the areas where it claims to have a "distinct advantage" in providing tailored risk solutions, such as management and professional liability lines.
Fortin has nearly 30 years of insurance industry experience. Prior to joining QBE, he held various financial lines senior leadership roles at Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance and CNA Financial. He also was a managing director of Aon Financial Services Group.
Greeley also joins QBE from Berkshire Hathaway, where he was senior vice president, executive & professional lines. Prior to that, he led the financial lines claim group at CNA Financial for over 10 years. Previously, he was an attorney in private practice in New York, with a commercial litigation focus representing executives, as well as financial lines insurers. He also served as an Assistant District Attorney in the Manhattan District Attorney's Office for over five years.
Tom Fitzgerald, president of specialty & commercial at QBE North America, said: "We're thrilled to bring Dan on board to help optimize our business while focusing on customer needs. He has a strong reputation for his ability to build high performance teams, enhance products, service customers and generate a top-quality book of business. We're confident that his leadership will take our operation to the next level as we pursue our strategic objectives focused on the customer, talent, performance and innovation."
Fitzgerald added: "Todd is a proven leader with strong values, and his extensive insurance industry and legal background will help us further unlock the value of QBE for our customers."
