Potential investors in reinsurance want to see resolve first: Guy Carp head
Current market conditions for reinsurers are the best they have ever been—or at least for 40+ years—but, despite a couple of startups in the wings, most investors still want to see further, long-term resolve for them to put their capital at risk, David Priebe (pictured), chairman of Guy Carpenter, told Monte Carlo Today.
“There will be no new wave of startups; there might be one or two, but there will be no ‘class of 2023’,” he said. “We are more likely to see new capital for existing players or investors look at the insurance-linked securities markets, sidecars or collateralised options.
