PartnerRe taps ex-AIG, XL Catlin as chief actuarial and risk officer

Bermuda-based reinsurer  PartnerRe has hired a former AIG and XL Catlin executive with more than 20 years of expertise in the P&C insurance industry for the role of chief actuarial and risk Officer.

Sima Ruparelia (pictured) will join PartnerRe on June 27.

Ruparelia will be responsible for risk and capital, non-life reserving and pricing and life reserving (2nd Line). She will be based in London and will report to  PartnerRe’s president and CEO Jacques Bonneau, as a member of the company’s executive leadership Team.

Ruparelia held the role of chief actuary and portfolio manager for UK, Europe, Global Specialty and Talbot, the Europe legal entity for AIG, from 2016 to 2021. Prior to that, she served as group actuary for Catlin and as UK chief actuary for XL Catlin, and held actuarial positions at Ernst and Young, Equitas and Pinnacle Insurance.

Bonneau said: “This position represents functions that play an important role in both our business and strategic decision-making and I am pleased to welcome a risk and actuarial professional with Sima’s experience. She brings more than 20 years of expertise in the P&C insurance industry and her track record in leading and shaping large and complex pricing and reserving strategies make her an excellent fit for this role.”
