Novae hires property binder unit head from Chaucer

Specialist listed Lloyd’s insurer Novae Group has appointed William Alderton as unit head of its newly formed international property binder unit.

He will report to Ian Burford, joint active underwriter and will join Novae in December.

Alderton joins from Chaucer Syndicates where he has spent the last decade as class underwriter for the international property binder unit for Syndicate 1084. He was responsible for managing many binding authorities and underwriting a global book of business. Additionally he was also responsible for the miscellaneous short tail unit.

Prior to this he held senior roles at Heritage Managing Agency, St Paul’s Syndicate at Lloyd’s and ACE.

Burford said: “William is a recognised specialist in the Property market and appointing him to lead our new unit is evidence of our commitment and ambition to establish our international binder profile in the Lloyd’s market. His enviable in-depth knowledge of binding authorities coupled with his relationships will enable us to expand and diversify our portfolio. I look forward to working with him when he joins us at the end of the year.”
