NFP expands benefits footprint with acquisition in southeast US
Insurance broker NFP has acquired US-based McLaughlin & Smoak (M&S) employee benefits broker to expand its benefits footprint in the Southeast region.
Following the transaction, which closed on January 20, South Carolina-based M&S' principals Colin Smoak and Trey McLaughlin have assumed their roles of directors within NFP's corporate benefits division, reporting to Southeast region managing director Christi Byron.
"Colin and Trey have built an impressive business," said Byron. "At their core, they’re a highly professional and motivated team that provide superior service to their clients to build lasting personal relationships, matching our culture perfectly. We’re thrilled to welcome Colin and Trey to the NFP family.
"As Charleston experiences tremendous growth, the addition of the McLaughlin & Smoak team will prove invaluable to extending our services to this market."
McLaughlin and Smoak said: "Since inception, our value proposition has been centered around developing and delivering solutions for our clients based on their needs. Joining NFP will allow us to deepen our client offerings, especially in the self-funded market. We are confident that we are now fully equipped to meet and exceed client expectations in an ever-changing health care environment."
