Nexus appoints innovation strategy specialist in expansion move
Specialty managing general agent (MGA) Nexus Group has appointed Karen Morris to its board as an independent non-executive director of underwriting operations.
Morris is an English barrister and international tax and corporate lawyer and has experience in re/insurance growth and innovation strategy. During her career, she has also mentored technology start-ups.
In recent years Morris has held long-term strategic consultancy roles for WR Berkley and the Hyperion Group. Prior to that, Morris was chief innovation officer at AIG, and has also held the roles of international underwriting counsel and head of product and service development and SVP for Southern Europe at the Chubb Group of Insurance Companies.
“Nexus has always had a keen eye for identifying market opportunities and moving quickly to innovate and capitalise on them," said Colin Thompson, founder and CEO of Nexus. "The business has seen extraordinary sustained growth in a highly competitive market, fuelled by both organic and M&A expansion.
"We are delighted to have attracted an expert of Karen’s calibre to join our team on the underwriting side - she is a specialist in innovation strategy and execution and has proven, pragmatic insights for growth strategy. We look forward to benefiting from Karen’s expertise as we continue to expand the business.”
