Munich Re Specialty swoops on long-standing Zurich leader to head up E&S lines

Munich Re Specialty Insurance, a part of global reinsurer  Munich Re, has tapped a long-serving Zurich North America executive to take on the role of president of excess & surplus (E&S) lines business.

The role had been vacant since October last year following the departure of Jill Beggs to head up the North American reinsurance operations of Everest Re.

Sabrina Hart (pictured) joins Munich Re Specialty Insurance following a 25-year career with Zurich North America, the last seven years as executive vice president for the Midwest region, responsible for the market execution and operations of the company’s commercial lines business across the region.

Previously, Hart has also held senior leadership positions with several other carriers and brokers, including Marsh and AIG.

Michael Kerner, president and CEO of Munich Re Specialty insurance, said: “Her strong underwriting acumen, collaborative approach and proven leadership make her distinctly qualified for this critical role at MRSI. I have tremendous confidence in her ability to both strengthen and expand our product offerings and help deliver the MRSI value proposition in the E&S space.”
