MS Amlin targets product recall growth with XL Catlin hire
Specialty re/insurer MS Amlin has appointed Ed Mitchell as lead underwriter for its product recall team.
Mitchell most recently served as global head of recall for XL Catlin, where he led one of the largest books in the global product recall market. Previous underwriting positions include roles at Beazley and Gen Re, and broking experience at Marsh and Sedgwick.
Based in London, Mitchell will be responsible for developing innovative recall solutions that will meet the increasing reputational, regulatory and operational risks faced by clients today.
The account will be written on a worldwide basis, covering a broad range of industry sectors and signals MS Amlin’s intention to be more active in the recall market, the company stated.
Paul Western, product group lead – specialty lines at MS Amlin, said: "We are delighted to have an underwriter of Ed's calibre join MS Amlin. His appointment will enable us to increase our product capabilities and enhance our offering to our brokers and clients. We look forward to working with him and building the team to establish MS Amlin as a leader in the product recall market."
