MS Amlin shakes up underwriting leadership to increase efficiency
Lloyd’s global re/insurer MS Amlin has shuffled its top ranks to streamline reporting and increase efficiency within its underwriting unit.
Key senior underwriting leadership changes follow Andrew Carrier’s (pictured) transition from chief underwriting officer (CUO) to chief executive officer (CEO) on January 1, 2023, subject to regulatory approval.
Grant Baxter, who joined the business at the end of December 2022 as head of reinsurance, also becomes interim CUO with effect from January 1, in addition to his reinsurance responsibilities. He joins MS Amlin’s executive committee and will report into Carrier.
Neil Walker, currently head of underwriting transformation, becomes co-deputy CUO and head of specialty insurance. Walker assumes responsibility for marine, casualty, natural resources, and crisis management insurance lines.
Sam Geddes, currently head of property and allied lines, will also become co-deputy CUO, alongside his existing responsibilities for property and auto insurance product lines. Both Walker and Geddes will report into Baxter.
Carrier, CEO of MS Amlin, said: “I am delighted to start the year by announcing these changes to our senior underwriting team. Grant’s skill, knowledge, and experience as a first-rate industry leader will give us the momentum to continue to ensure underwriting is at the heart of our strategy and business operations. Neil and Sam are highly respected and proven leaders in their own right, and their collaborative expertise will only further reinforce the robust bench of our underwriting team.”
