MS Amlin plucks Liberty leader for head of reinsurance, deputy CUO role
Lloyd’s market re/insurer MS Amlin Underwriting (MS AUL) has brought in a 20-year re/insurance executive from Liberty Mutual to take up a newly created role of head of reinsurance & deputy chief underwriting officer.
Grant Baxter (pictured) will take up his role towards the end of the year, subject to regulatory approval. He will be based at MS AUL’s London office, reporting to Andrew Carrier, CUO of MS AUL.
Baxter has 20 years of insurance and reinsurance experience to the business. He joins from Liberty, where over the course of almost a decade, he held a number of senior roles most recently head of portfolio management in Liberty’s Global Risk Solutions division, and prior to that managing its global ceded reinsurance strategy. Baxter also has extensive experience on the broking side, where after beginning his career at Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs, he moved to Aon, and latterly Willis Re, as an executive director for the firm.
Carrier commented: “I am delighted to announce Grant’s appointment as Head of Reinsurance and Deputy CUO. Grant brings with him real depth of knowledge, skill and true cross-class awareness and understanding. Grant will be central to the execution of our underwriting strategy, leading our reinsurance teams, as well as providing broader support across our entire underwriting faculty. His appointment demonstrates our continued commitment to build our underwriting bench strength, as well as our ability to attract highly capable talent.”
