MS Amlin attracts former RSA exec to strengthen board

Lloyd's global re/insurer  MS Amlin Underwriting (MS AUL) has appointed a new independent non-executive director (iNED) to further strengthen its board of directors.

Julie Hopes will also take over as chair of the Risk and Solvency Committee later this year, subject to regulatory approval, assuming the role from Gilles Bonvarlet (pictured) who will be retiring from the MS AUL Board after over eight years of service as a director.

Hopes has 30 years of experience in the financial services industry, including board experience at executive and non-executive level. She is a seasoned board committee chair, holding current board positions at Saga plc and West Bromwich Building Society, and previously chairing the risk committee at Co-Op Insurance. During her executive career, Hopes was the managing director for insurance at Tesco Bank and international operations director at RSA.

Johan Slabbert, CEO of MS Amlin Underwriting, said: “I am delighted to announce the appointment of Julie as a notified independent Non-Executive Director (iNED). Julie is an accomplished industry leader and her appointment is testament to our continued ability to attract senior talent to the business. Her proven leadership track record across blue-chip financial services firms and her deep understanding of the regulatory landscape will undoubtedly further strengthen the MS AUL Board as we continue to progress with our strategic objectives.”
