MS Amlin and Hydor launch commercial P&I insurance trade body
Global re/insurer MS Amlin and Lloyd’s managing general underwriter Hydor have launched a new trade body to support and promote the commercial protection and indemnity (P&I) insurance sector in the global market, a line of business regarded as “very complex”.
The primary role of the Association of Commercial P&I Insurers Limited (ACPII) will be to liaise with stakeholders relevant to the marine/shipping industry such as government agencies, regulators, trade associations and other international maritime and financial organisations.
The ACPII will represent the common interests of commercial P&I insurers globally.
Executives taking the position of directors of the association include Bianca te Poele, Liv Irene Loland, Eugène van Steekelenburg and Johan Gjernes. Additionally, Capt. Bert Wardetzki has been appointed head of the secretariat and secretary to the Association.
Tom Oostra (pictured), managing director of MS Amlin marine, said: “We have been long standing advocates for a body to represent the common interests of Commercial P&I Insurers, so welcome the formation of the ACPII.”
Morten Skomsoy, managing director of Hydor, commented: “The world of P&I insurance is very complex with a myriad of stakeholders. We fully support an Association to represent the interests of the Commercial P & I insurers in this rapidly changing world.”
MS Amlin Marine offers insurance solutions for shipowners’ P&I, charterers’ liability, hull, cargo, cargo liability, yacht, specie and war.
Hydor underwrites owner’s P&I, charterer’s P&I, freight demurrage & defence (FDD), energy, marine equipment and related covers.
