Montross of Gen Re elected RAA chair
The Reinsurance Association of America (RAA) has elected Tad Montross, president and chief executive officer, General Reinsurance, as chair of the board of directors.
Elected to serve with Montross are vice chair Henry Klecan, president and chief executive officer, SCOR US and SCOR Reinsurance, and Michael Sapnar, president and chief executive officer, Transatlantic Holdings, who will serve as secretary-treasurer.
Montross is also chair of the Council of Reinsurers and Brokers, and Robert Hatcher, executive vice president and national managing director, US branch network, Willis Re, was elected co-chair of the council.
Prior to assuming his role as chairman and chief executive officer of Gen Re in 2008, Montross was president and chief underwriting officer. He joined the company in 1978 as a casualty facultative underwriter. He was promoted to senior vice president in 1992.
He currently serves on the executive committee of the board of St. John’s University’s School of Risk Management and the executive committee of the Board of Trustees of the American Institute for CPCU. He has served on the board of directors of the National Disaster Coalition and the Insurance Information Institute, and on the advisory committee of the Chicago Board of Trade.
Klecan is currently managing director of SCOR’s operations in the Americas. He is also the president and chief executive officer of SCOR US and SCOR Reinsurance, SCOR Canada Reinsurance and vice-chairman of SCOR Global Life Americas Reinsurance Company and SCOR Global Life USA Reinsurance Company.
Sapnar is president and chief executive officer of Transatlantic Holdings, and its subsidiaries, Transatlantic Reinsurance Company (TransRe) and Fair American Insurance and Reinsurance Company (Fairco).
Hatcher is executive vice president and national managing director, US branch network, Willis Re, responsible for Willis Re’s 13 branch offices in the United States. He is also senior account executive responsible for the production of new business and account management.
