Miller mines Marsh/JLT to expand in marine market
Specialist re/insurance broker Miller has tapped a senior hire from Marsh/JLT as it looks to strengthen its marine hull capabilities and enhance its presence in the marine market.
The company has appointed Nick Lockyer to its direct marine team. Lockyer will join in the newly formed role of chairman of direct marine, working in collaboration with Andrew Challacombe in his role as chairman of marine.
Lockyer was previously the joint managing director of marine at Marsh, having been joint Managing Director and Joint Chairman of Marine at JLT prior to this. Nick started his career at Colburn, French and Kneen where he progressed to become joint Managing Director of Marine.
Lockyer’s appointment continues the expansion of Miller’s marine direct team and follows the recent addition of Lee Bright from Marsh and Craig Dennis who joined from Ambrey, in addition to Pene Reuben who also recently joined the marine liability reinsurance team.
Nick Summers, head of direct marine at Miller, said: “We’re delighted to be welcoming Nick to Miller, further growing our Marine Direct team and strengthening our Marine Hull capabilities. His extensive broking experience will benefit both clients and our trading partners as we look to further our position as a leading player in Marine.”
Phil Wheeler, head of marine at Miller, added: “We are proud of our reputation of first-class client service backed up by deep Marine expertise and know that this is only possible due to our team of professionals who continue to deliver on this promise. I’m therefore delighted that Nick has chosen to join our team, bringing his experience, expertise and passion to Miller, and look forward to working with him as we continue to grow our business.”
Lockyer commented: “Miller has significant ambitions, within both the Marine class and more broadly. I’m looking forward to working closely with Nick and the rest of the Direct Marine team to provide top class products and services for Miller’s clients.”
