Miller draws team from AmWins to expand into Caribbean property
Specialist re/insurance broker Miller has established a new Caribbean property team with a trio of hires as the firm looks to expand into targeted product segments.
Michael Edwards (pictured left) will join as head of Caribbean in P&C alongside Charlie Lunn as account executive, and Toby Pearcy (pictured right) as broker. All three come from AmWins.
Together, they will focus on developing business in Caribbean territories, further growing Miller’s client base and network. In his new role, Edwards will report into Tony Dryden, who heads up Miller’s international property team. Lunn and Pearcy will both report into Edwards.
With 30 years’ industry experience, Edwards has deep knowledge of the Caribbean market and long-standing relationships with leading local insurers. Prior to joining Miller, he was at AmWins Global Risks, where he was responsible for developing new business opportunities with Caribbean clients. He has also held roles at Tysers and Co. and HSBC Insurance Brokers. Lunn and Pearcy also join from AmWins.
The establishing of a Caribbean property team follows recent expansion of Miller into renewables, surety and construction.
Dryden said: “I’m excited to welcome Michael, Charlie and Toby to the team. All are high achieving individuals whose enthusiasm and specialist knowledge of the Caribbean region will strengthen our offering and create a bigger and better team to serve the Caribbean territory. Establishing this new team comes following a number of significant hires throughout 2021. Miller has significant growth ambitions and our ability to attract top talent from across the industry is an important part of achieving these.”
Edwards commented: “I greatly look forward to joining Miller at an exciting time in its development. The opportunity to establish a new division in a business with clear appetite and enthusiasm to grow was a huge attraction for me, and I am excited to be part of such a passionate, practitioner-led business.”
