McGill takes Aon GRS CEO to grow presence in Bermuda
Global specialist re/insurance broker McGill and Partners plans to further expand its presence in Bermuda with the hiring of an industry veteran from Aon.
Peter Stubbings (pictured) has joined the broker as a partner where he will focus on reinsurance. McGill said the appointment reinforces its commitment to the Bermudan market and its ambitions to bring new premiums to the island.
Stubbings joins from Aon where he was CEO of Global ReSpecialty. Prior to that, he was chairman of Guy Carpenter in Bermuda, and is returning to the island with an extensive contact base and expertise.
Stubbings said: “I’m delighted to be joining the McGill and Partners team. The firm has rapidly built a stellar global reputation and continually looks at how it can do things differently and better. I’m looking forward to being part of this impressive growth story in Bermuda, a market that holds a key position in the global insurance and reinsurance industry.”
Kate Vacher, partner and CEO of McGill and Partners Bermuda, said: “For us as a broker, direct access to the Bermudan market helps facilitate mutual success across all our offices and compound the firm’s significant growth. We are excited to see the hub grow over the next few years, and we have big ambitions to bring both new premiums to Bermuda, as well as employing local Bermudan talent.”
Steve McGill, founder and CEO of McGill and Partners, said: “It’s fantastic to see our Bermudan operations going from strength to strength. We appreciate that the local Bermudan market like to have local brokers and our approach enables access to other markets and the support of our other, global teams. We are also known for having a hugely successful talent acquisition strategy and as part of this we’re committed to hiring the very best in local Bermudan staff.”
