Marsh taps Aon's Hale as London market leader for energy practice
Broker Marsh has hired Aon's Rob Hale as London market leader of power & renewable energy practice, Marsh JLT Specialty.
Hale is expected to join the business in the first quarter of 2021. Based in London, he will report to Andrew Herring, CEO, UK & Ireland, energy & power, Marsh JLT Specialty.
In his new role, Hale will assume overall responsibility for the business’ placement strategy with specialist power and renewable energy insurers in the London market on behalf of clients globally. He will also be involved in the creation of new services and solutions that support the fast-growing renewable energy industry.
Hale specialises in global power and renewable energy insurance and risk trends. He joins Marsh from Aon, where he was managing director of Aon's portfolio solutions business, overseeing structured solutions and the electronic trading strategy. Previously, he was leader of Aon's London-based power practice. Having worked in the sector for over 20 years, Hale has also been employed by Willis Towers Watson and Miller in specialist energy broking roles.
Herring said: “Marsh is committed to serving our power and renewable energy clients around the world as they continue to transition to clean energy and renewable resources, such as solar and offshore wind technologies. Rob, with his specialist market knowledge and deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities our clients face, is ideally placed to lead the business’s London market placement strategy and assist in the development of the next generation of power supply.”
Hale added: “COVID-19 has accelerated the energy agenda globally, with many countries reassessing their reliance on traditional sources amid a drop in demand during the pandemic. I look forward to playing a key role in working with Marsh’s clients and the London insurance market, as we shape the future direction of energy around the world.”
