Marsh shakes up leadership in Europe amid ‘challenges and uncertainty’
Global insurance broker and risk advisor Marsh has named new leaders for its Central & Eastern European (CEE) business to better manage clients’ risks in the face of highly “challenging and uncertain” operating conditions.
Nilay Ozden (Pictured) has been appointed to lead Marsh Specialty’s European business, with Cristian Fugaciu and Artur Grzeskowiak appointed co-CEOs of Central & Eastern Europe.
Based in London, Ozden will be responsible for delivering Marsh Specialty’s capabilities to clients across Europe, including providing data driven insights, service and advice, and access to insurance markets for clients across aviation and space, credit specialties, construction, energy and power, financial and professional services (FINPRO), marine and cargo, and private equity, mergers & acquisitions (PEMA).
Ozden joined Marsh in Turkey in 2001 and has been engaged in various senior roles during her 22 years with the business. Most recently, she served as FINPRO practice leader, Continental Europe for 10 years. Ozden reports to Lucy Clarke, president, Marsh Specialty and Global Placement, and to Christos Adamantiadis, CEO, Europe, Marsh.
As co-CEOs, Fugaciu and Grzeskowiak will oversee the development of Marsh’s business in the CEE region, which consists of 13 countries including Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, and Slovenia.
Fugaciu will remain as CEO in Romania and head of the Central part of CEE, and Grzeskowiak as CEO in Poland and head of the Northern part of CEE. They will continue to be based in Bucharest and Warsaw and report to Adamantiadis.
Fugaciu has had a 25 year career at Marsh and held several senior roles, including head of Marsh’s corporate business in Romania, before becoming CEO in 2002. He expanded his leadership responsibilities to include the South segment of the CEE region in 2013 and the Central segment of the CEE region in 2018.
Grzeskowiak began his career in 1997 and worked for large brokerage companies before joining Marsh in 2016 as CEO of Poland. Most recently, his responsibilities have also included the Northern segment of the CEE region.
Clarke said: “I am delighted to welcome Nilay to Marsh Specialty’s global executive team; her contribution as European head of FINPRO has been outstanding and I know she will bring the same energy and commitment to her wider role across Marsh Specialty in Europe. Many congratulations to Nilay, Cristian, and Artur, all of whom will be dedicated to providing our clients with market-leading results and exceptional service.”
Adamantiadis added: “Cristian, Artur, and Nilay are highly-experienced leaders who are committed to supporting our European clients in managing the risks they face in what can be an often-complex operating environment. I look forward to working with them and our wider European leadership team as we continue to support our clients, colleagues, and communities in these very challenging and uncertain times.”
