Marsh hires first chief digital officer from American Express in tech push
Global insurance broking and risk management firm Marsh has appointed Sastry Durvasula to the newly-created role of chief digital officer, and chief data and analytics officer.
Durvasula joins Marsh from American Express (AmEx), where most recently he was enterprise head of data and digital technology.
In his new role, Durvasula will be responsible for leading the strategic design, development, and delivery of Marsh’s digital capabilities, data and analytics, and client-facing technology across the firm’s global business. He will also be responsible for Marsh ClearSight, the provider of risk, safety, and claims management software.
Durvasula will report to John Drzik, president of global risk and specialties at Marsh.
Drzik said: "Leveraging significant opportunities arising from emerging technology is fundamental to how Marsh serves clients and helps them achieve their business goals."
"Sastry brings a superior in-depth knowledge of digital technologies – including big data, blockchain, and artificial intelligence – and a proven track record of leading enterprise transformation at scale. We’re delighted that Sastry is joining us to develop Marsh’s global digital strategy and help us harness technology, data and analytics to benefit our clients, carrier partners and colleagues."
