Marsh hires data science, risk modelling expert for newly created role
Broker Marsh has appointed Andrew Hickman as global head of data science within its broader digital, data, and analytics practice.
In this newly created role, Hickman will be responsible for advancing Marsh’s risk modeling and actuarial capabilities to drive new client solutions. He will build new external data and analytics partnerships in collaboration with Marsh Digital Labs to use the latest data science and machine learning techniques.
Hickman brings more than 20 years of data science, risk modelling, and software development experience to the role. He joins Marsh from Experian DataLabs where he most recently served as vice president of applied research. Prior to that, he held various risk management, analytics, and research and development roles at QVT Financial, Risk Management Solutions and Oliver Wyman.
Hickman will be based in New York, and report to Sastry Durvasula, Marsh’s chief digital officer and chief data & analytics officer.
“Marsh has a unique opportunity to unlock the value inherent in the breadth and depth of its data and deliver innovative solutions for clients,” said Durvasula. “With Andy’s expertise and experience, we will build industry-leading data science and risk modeling capabilities leveraging the latest advancements in technology.”
Hickman added: “I’m looking forward to leading the transformation of Marsh’s data and analytics capabilities to create next-gen solutions that help clients better understand and manage their risks.”
