Markel hires Tokio Marine and Travelers execs to expand media offering
Specialist insurer Markel International has appointed Nicola Marshall as senior underwriter and Joe Wornham as underwriter to develop its multimedia and film and TV error and omissions (E&O) offering.
Marshall has been underwriting manager at Tokio Marine HCC since 2013, responsible for its media PI business management. She was previously at QBE in London.
Wornham has worked at Travelers since 2013, most recently as a development underwriter in the media and entertainment team.
The duo joins Alex Clegg and Pippa Morris, who are working in the company’s personal accident, contingency and entertainment team since last year to develop the insurer’s film and TV production and media business.
"We are building a team with the capabilities and capacity to look after a wide range of the insurance needs of companies in the media sector," James Hastings, divisional managing director of Markel’s specialty and financial lines division, commented. "The team brings together the expertise to deliver an integrated product designed to meet the needs of brokers and insureds alike."
Marshall said: "I am looking forward to working with a company that has such an international footprint. The challenge to create a market leading product and work closely with Alex and Pippa is one I am looking forward to and will relish."
Clegg added: "The media industry is growing rapidly and, as a result, there’s a lot of demand in the market for a product that meets all clients’ needs. We are delighted to be able to develop an offering that does this."
