Markel appoints new hull and war underwriter in Asia
Specialist insurer Markel International has promoted Wanshi Lin to hull and war underwriter in its marine division in the Singapore office.
Lin will take over from Gustaf Kristiansson, who has left the company and moved to Sweden to pursue another role.
Lin joined Markel in 2018 as assistant marine underwriter and was promoted to underwriter in 2019. She was previously at insurance broker Marsh for seven years, where she held several positions.
Christian Stobbs, managing director for Asia, said: “Wanshi is a key underwriter of our marine division who has helped expand Markel’s regional footprint in the marine hull, liability and war business since joining in 2018. We are delighted with her promotion, which reinforces our commitment to building Markel’s local capability in Asia as we seek to become the best specialist insurer in the region.”
“We also like to thank Gustaf for the significant role he played in supporting our marine portfolio in the region, and we wish him well for his return to Sweden.”
