Mapfre hires SVP to oversee business development strategy in US Northeast

Mapfre USA, a personal and commercial auto writer and home insurer in Massachusetts, has hired an industry veteran to oversee its business development strategy in the Northeast region.

The company has hired Dana Whiteley (pictured) as senior vice president of business development.

Whiteley has served in several leadership roles since joining the company in 2002, including vice president of internal audit, chief underwriting officer, and most recently, senior vice president and chief risk officer.

In his new role, Whiteley will help explore new insurance solutions to drive sales and enhance the agent and customer experience. He replaces Keith Jensen, who is retiring from Mapfre, effective June 30, 2022.

“Dana is a tremendous addition to our Business Development team, with deep knowledge of the business and proven success in building and leading teams and developing strong relationships,” said Jaime Tamayo, Mapfre USA president and chief executive officer. “His dedicated leadership and keen insurance knowledge make him ideally suited to lead our business development team and drive our business forward.”

Whiteley commented: “I am excited by the opportunity to lead Mapfre’s exceptional Business Development organisation. With their talent and MAPFRE’s comprehensive, long-term growth strategy, we will strengthen our business by forging deeper agent partnerships and delivering greater customer value.”
