LMA’s worldwide property panel appoints Apollo exec as chair

Nick Jones has been appointed chairman of the Lloyd’s Market Association’s (LMA) worldwide property panel with immediate effect.

Jones, the active underwriter at Apollo Syndicate Management, replaces outgoing chair Mark Bodkin, Beazley's senior underwriter on the Lloyd’s team.

Aegis London's head of property Toby Sawyer, Axis Capital's ‎senior vice president of property Jonathan Marshall and Andrew Middleton from HCC have been elected to the panel; and Richard Wood from Cathedral, and Bodkin were re-elected. All the executives will serve the panel for a three-year term.

LMA's property business panel leads on a wide range of issues affecting Lloyd’s managing agents (MGA) and syndicates on behalf of the Lloyd’s market.

One area of focus for the panel in 2017 will be engaging with the Placing Platform Limited (PPL) project team to ensure that the platform provides efficiencies to the underwriting process. PPL is the London market's electronic placing platform solution and is a major initiative within the London Market Target Operating Model (TOM).

Other topics of discussion for the year ahead will include continuing to monitor evolving exposures in the property market and increasing the interaction between the panel and Lloyd’s Corporation.

Jones said: “I am pleased to have been appointed to chair the LMA’s Worldwide Property Business Panel. I look forward to progressing the aims of the Panel for the benefit of the property underwriting market at Lloyd’s.
