Lloyd's appoints former US Senator John Sununu to council
Specialist insurance and reinsurance market Lloyd's has appointed former United States Senator John Sununu as a new member of its Council for a three-year term, beginning Feb 6, 2019.
Sununu's appointment will provide US political and regulatory experience to Lloyd's, as well as technology and innovation insights to help seize new opportunities in the US.
During his tenure in the Senate, Sununu served on the Senate Banking Committee, where he's said to have actively prioritised insurance issues, and the Senate’s subcommittee on science, technology and innovation.
"His appointment to the council ensures that Lloyd’s has outstanding US political and regulatory experience to draw from, which is essential for the significant amount of business Lloyd’s does in the US," Lloyd's said in a statement.
"John’s experience and ongoing interest in technology and innovation will also help Lloyd’s seize new opportunities in the digital world," it added.
