Liberty Mutual appoints CUO to lead healthcare unit
Insurance firm Liberty Mutual has appointed Jeff Duncan senior vice president and chief underwriting officer of its operation focused on helping healthcare providers and the brokers who support them better manage the total cost of risk.
In his new role, Duncan will be responsible for building and profitably growing the company's newest operation focused on a specific industry. He will report to David Perez, executive vice president and general manager of Liberty Mutual's commercial insurance specialised units.
Prior to this, Duncan served in a number of senior positions at Liberty Mutual, most recently as vice president and chief underwriting officer for Specialty Custom Risk, where he launched the non-admitted capability for company's commercial insurance segment, and was also responsible for developing the insurer's commercial specialty products.
"Our Healthcare vertical blends dedicated underwriters, risk engineering and claims management to help companies in this industry better manage risk," said Duncan. "We understand the risks faced by the industry and partner with brokers and buyers to identify ways to effectively manage and mitigate those exposures. Today, we offer property, workers compensation, auto and general liability, and are exploring ways to expand our product offering to more fully meet the needs of healthcare providers."
