Liberty fills new leadership role from Aon in Europe push

Liberty Specialty Markets (LSM), part of Liberty Mutual Insurance Group, has appointed Marleen Lemmens as new European chief operating officer (COO), based in The Netherlands. The new role is created to support LSM's growth plans in continental Europe.

Lemmens will be responsible for overseeing LSM’s operations in continental Europe including LSM’s Dublin-based Centre of Excellence, a processing centre designed to optimise business processing and ensure a consistent service to brokers across the region.

Lemmens joins LSM from Aon Netherlands where she held the role of chief transformation officer/chief operating officer.

During her career in the financial services industry, she has held client-facing and sales roles in banking, insurance and consultancy. She is said to have an in-depth knowledge of operations, risk, audit and compliance and has a broad interest in transformation and restructuring programs.

Lemmens will report to Kadidja Sinz, head of Europe and Kirk Maddern, chief operating officer of LSM.

Sinz commented: “Marleen brings over 20 years of experience working both for insurers and brokers across Europe. She will be involved in developing digital initiatives to meet client and broker needs in the region. Marleen’s experience in customer service and her multi-cultural approach is a key asset for our team as we grow to meet our aspiration to be a leading specialist player in Europe.”
