Leadership shuffle at Swiss Re Korea as 16-year veteran departs
Global reinsurer Swiss Re has tapped a 24-year company veteran to run its Korean business following the departure of Jonas von Oldenskiöld.
Von Oldenskiöld has decided to leave after 16 years with the organisation to pursue new career opportunities. With his departure, Yong Suk Kwon (Pictured) will be appointed head Korea branch effective December 2022, subject to regulatory approvals.
Suk Kwon will be responsible for overseeing the operations of the branch and Swiss Re’s Life & Health (L&H) business in Korea.
He is a seasoned leader with close to 30 years’ experience in the life & health insurance business. He joined Swiss Re Korea in 1998 as a member of the marketing actuarial services team and relocated to Zurich in 1999. He returned to Korea in 2001 to join the L&H client management team and was promoted to head L&H client markets in 2012. Prior to joining Swiss Re, he worked for Hyundai Life.
Suk Kwon’s current role, head L&H client markets Korea, will be succeeded by Sug In Jung (Jimmy). Jason Ha will lead the P&C client markets team in the interim and report to Anna Lee, head of client markets, South Korea, Hong Kong & Taiwan.
