Leadenhall lifts new business chief to #2 spot, eyes CEO succession

ILS and reinsurance investment manager Leadenhall Capital Partners has promoted a 12-year veteran into its boardroom's #2 spot to "provide clarity on the succession planning for the future."

Lorenzo Volpi (pictured) becomes deputy CEO after a 12-year tenure that put him atop business development as managing partner. He is hailed for as “an integral member of the senior management team which has attracted institutional investors to its specialist ILS business.”

But the firm was keen to curtail speculation. “The move does not signal any intention of Leadenhall’s current CEO Luca Albertini to step down, but provides clarity on the succession planning for the future,” the firm said in its post on social media.

Lorenzo will maintain his responsibilities as head of business development and will sit with some of Leadenhall’s governance bodies such as the management board and valuation and reserving committee.

“Grateful for the confidence granted by our Founding Partners John Wells and Luca Albertini and our Stakeholders MSI,” Volpi wrote in comment to the post. “A huge thank you to all our clients and looking forward to many more years of successful business at Leadenhall.”

10 September 2017   New UK regulations designed to enable an insurance-linked securities (ILS) market in the London Market could have the potential to be a game-changer for parts of the ILS markets but much still depends on how the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) adopts and embraces the concept, with the regulator having the potential to make or break the market.
