Ironshore International has opened an office in Hong Kong as it seeks to build upon the company’s presence in the Asia-Pacific region.
Melody Qian, formerly of Liberty International, has been named general manager, Ironshore Hong Kong, and will lead the initiative.
Qian will report to Chen Dai, head of Asia, Ironshore International, who is based in the company’s Singapore office, which was established in 2012.
Qian most recently served with Liberty International in Hong Kong, where she was manager for Asia, overseeing commercial directors & officers and financial institutions’ products, while also being responsible for developing the business lines portfolio for North Asia.
Prior to joining Liberty International’s management team, Qian held the position of senior manager with Chubb Specialty Insurance in Shanghai.
Dai said: “Ironshore has undertaken a consistent, measured approach to the Asian market, which contributed to the success of the Singapore office over the past two years. Opening the Hong Kong office further bolsters Ironshore’s strategic presence in the dynamic Asia-Pacific insurance Ironshore Hong Kong will underwrite the company’s suite of specialty product lines, as well as provide access to syndicated, consortium capacity through its Lloyd’s Pembroke Managing Agency, based in London.”
