Intelligent Insurer unveils free online Commercial Lines Innovation USA event
Over 1,000 commercial insurers have signed up for the free Commercial Lines Innovation USA Virtual Event, which is taking place online from May 18-21 and presented by Intelligent Insurer.
The event will look at technology and innovation for commercial lines insurance, featuring in-depth case studies, exclusive fireside chats and panel debates, with more than 15 hours of content offered in total.
The event will provide the knowledge and insights needed to tackle the data challenge for commercial lines, transform inefficient operations, adapt to changing customer needs and respond to the evolving distribution landscape.
Among the speakers will be Cathy Miller, senior vice president and property underwriting officer at Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance; Kevin Kerridge, executive vice president, direct and partnership division at Hiscox USA; Rodolphe Herve, chief executive officer (CEO) and global head of operations and specialty insurance at SCOR; Greg Boutin, CEO at Relay Platform; Guenter Kryszon, executive underwriting officer, global property at Markel; and Steve Rhee, chief digital officer at Gallagher.
Sessions will address underwriting and pricing, including how to inject digital fluency into underwriting leadership and how to cultivate data enrichment to drive underwriting profitability. There will also be advice about how to build a digital transformation strategy, how to restore trust and repair reputation with increased transparency and how to grow a small commercial book with next-generation digital capabilities.
The event is the latest in an ongoing series of events run by Intelligent Insurer, designed to help industry participants advance their careers and drive the wider evolution of the re/insurance industry.
Pierre du Rostu, global head of innovation and business architecture at AXA XL and a speaker at the event, said: “Not only are new technologies disrupting every single step of the value chain, they are challenging the nature of our business itself. That is why, in the near future, there will only be two type of insurers left: the ones who have been able to adapt and embrace these changes, and the ones who have not and are just the victims of this paradigm shift.”
Darcy Shapiro, chief operating officer for the Americas at Cover Genius who is also speaking at the conference, said: “Today, more than ever before, there's an increasing need for innovative products and cutting-edge technologies that put these products in the hands of people and businesses to help when things go wrong.”
Kevin Mooney, senior vice president at SME Casualty and speaker, pointed to the unprecedented events of the past year and the impact on the reinsurance industry. “The insurance market must embrace the digital evolution,” he said. “If you are planning to build a digital solution, it needs to be your top priority. If you have started your digital journey, now is the time to accelerate and expand your capabilities.”
Rachael Gore, head of digital content for Intelligent Insurer, pointed to the speed of change in the market. “Today’s products are solving yesterday’s problems, and clients are no longer willing to accept opaque, inflexible and inefficient cover,” she said. “Commercial insurers who fail to confront these issues risk losing market share to innovative managing general agents (MGAs) and insurtechs. This event will give insurers the winning edge, equipping them to evolve their operations and offerings in pace with the developments taking place within the commercial world.”
