Insurtech Previsico hires Brogden from Aviva
Previsico, a UK-based flood forecasting insurtech, has hired Graham Brogden from Aviva as part of expansion plans.
Brogden was previously head of technical claims at Aviva and chairman of Defras flood resilience committee.
In his new role he will advise the technology company on its UK nation-wide launch and expansion.
Previsico said hiring Brogden as the company launches its products across the UK “is another significant step in its mission to be the leading global provider of cutting-edge flood warning prediction”. Predictions cover increasingly prevalent surface water flooding, which the firms said has the potential to affect 3 million people in the UK, compared with 2.4 million for river and coastal flooding.
Previsico CEO Jonathan Jackson said: “We are delighted that someone of Graham’s standing in the flood insurance space has decided to advise us, as we go Nationwide with our unique offering, following successful pilots in four UK cities.
“We are also grateful to our high-profile early-stage stakeholders, including the Cabinet Office, Met Office and Environment Agency, who facilitated the pilots, the success of which has already led to significant and increasing interest from leading brokers, insurers and partners.”
Brogden said: “I’m delighted to join Previsico at this important stage in their development. Their unique solution fills a huge gap in the flood forecasting market, by providing live flood warnings, including for surface water down to individual property level, enabling insurers, brokers and customers to add another layer of flood resilience.”
The insurtech specialises in modelling surface water flooding in real-time using geospatial technology for weather predictions, in partnership with IBM and Watchkeeper International. From this data it offers property-level flood “nowcast and forecast warnings”.
