Insurtech Next seeks traditional talent in quest for price adequacy
Next Insurance, an insurtech focused on providing cover for small businesses, plucked a twenty year veteran of traditional insurance with a background at Farmers and MetLife to lead insurance and make sure that insurtech client-friendliness is backed by insurance grade price adequacy.
Chris Rhodes (Pictured) becomes the company's first chief insurance officer to support product development, improve the claims automation experience, add to client segmentation and help underwriting and pricing by tying in loss analytics.
Rhodes joins NEXT with twenty years of property and casualty insurance experience, including senior leadership roles at Farmers Insurance, where he managed $4 billion in written premium and at MetLife, where he oversaw product management and business strategy, including all pricing and underwriting decisions.
That traditional insurance background is now a plus at the tech upstart as it “demonstrates a keen dedication to customers” needed for NEXT to “drive a balance between customer experience and improvement in the overall rate adequacy.”
The goal: “to ensure alignment between the company's growth and profit goals.”
NEXT CEO and co-founder Guy Goldstein commented: "Since day one, NEXT has been committed to helping entrepreneurs thrive by providing access to tailored digital-first insurance policies. Chris shares this excitement for serving this community and sees this role as an opportunity to help us continue to deliver exceptional experiences. He brings extensive knowledge of the insurance space to NEXT, and we look forward to having him as a member of our executive team as we continue to support small businesses. "
