Insurtech Concirrus signs up marine expert Dieter Berg as non-executive director
Insurtech Concirrus has signed up Dieter Berg, former president of the International Union of Marine Insurance, as a non-executive director.
Berg was voted the most influential person in marine insurance three times in the last five years, and Concirrus said his expertise was unparalleled with over 30 years’ experience in global reinsurance and primary insurance. Berg has sat on the steering boards of British and German insurance companies and more recently, led the development of growth market strategies in marine digitalisation and innovation management for Munich Re.
“The marine industry is on the cusp of a digital revolution. By embracing digital technologies and data analytics, marine insurers can further expand the borders of insurability,” Berg said. “It’s really exciting to see Concirrus playing a pivotal role in helping the insurance industry to harness the opportunities that lie ahead. I’m very much looking forward to working closely with the team and supporting the future success of this dynamic and ambitious company.”
Concirrus CEO Andrew Yeoman says: “We’re absolutely delighted and privileged to have Dieter join the board. We recognised that, if we wanted to continue in our commitment to helping our customers succeed, we needed to ensure that we had someone with deep experience, track record and gravitas and we found this in Dieter.
“Visionary and highly respected within the market, Dieter was a natural choice. We’re excited for him to be part of our journey, helping us to reinforce our mission – that is to give our customers greater control in their decision-making to help grow their business and make it more profitable. It’s all about combining the art of underwriting with the science of data.”
