IGI swoops for Neon class underwriter to build cargo business
International General Insurance Holdings (IGI) has appointed Brian James as class underwriter for cargo.
James joins from Neon Underwriting, where he was class underwriter. He has over 30 years of experience in the cargo industry, having spent over a decade at Wellington Underwriting where he was responsible for establishing Wellington’s Syndicate Services and Wellington Genoa, following acquisition by Catlin.
James will be based in IGI’s London office, and will be responsible for developing a niche portfolio of general cargo business, focusing on specific elements of the general cargo market, specifically medium-sized accounts and largely transit only, as well as cargo “war on land” risks. He will report to Mark Trevitt, marine class underwriter.
IGI said James’s appointment further strengthens its team and its growing marine portfolio.
