ICA shuffles board following key departures from Zurich and QBE
The Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) has made key changes to its board following the resignation of senior executives from Zurich and QBE Insurance Group.
Zurich's Tim Plant (pictured), QBE's Frank Costigan, and Suncorp's Lisa Harrison have all stepped down from ICA's board.
Plant has stepped down from the board and as ICA deputy president due to his recent resignation from Zurich Financial Services Australia. Costigan has also left the ICA board due to his resignation from QBE.
Harrison, CEO of insurance product & portfolio at Suncorp, has stepped down from the board to take up as chair of the ICA’s new strategy Committee, which will examine issues of strategic policy importance to the general insurance sector.
Steve Johnston, group chief executive officer and managing director of Suncorp Group, has been appointed to ICA's board at its August meeting. Prior to joining Suncorp, Johnston held senior positions at Telstra and the Queensland Government.
Richard Enthoven, CEO of Hollard Australia Group, has been appointed as new deputy president replacing Plant. ICA said Plant's board vacancy will be filled at the December 2021 board meeting.
Commenting on the changes, Sue Houghton, president of ICA, said: "We welcome Steve Johnston to the Board of the ICA and look forward to drawing on his broad knowledge of the general insurance industry as well as public policy experience in Australia."
Houghton added: "The Board would like to thank Frank Costigan, Tim Plant and Lisa Harrison for their strong contributions to the work of the Board and look forward to Lisa’s ongoing leadership of the Strategy Committee."
