ICA appoints Suncorp insurance CEO as president and new execs to board
The Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) has appointed Suncorp's insurance CEO Anthony Day as its president and chairman of the board.
The council has made several other appointments including Richard Enthoven, CEO of The Hollard Insurance Company, as deputy president.
Patrick Regan, the group chief financial officer and CEO of QBE's Australian and New Zealand operations, has joined ICA's board as a director.
The council also announced that the managing director of Allianz Australia insurance Niran Peiris has stepped down as acting president and as deputy president. However, he will remain a director.
ICA CEO Rob Whelan said: "Anthony and Richard represent companies with diversified insurance portfolios and different business models – a long-established major insurer and a rapidly growing challenger brand."
"Their industry expertise, and their keen interest in influencing how the general insurance industry adjusts and responds to Australia’s rapidly changing political landscape and financial services sector, will be put to great use in these key positions.
"Further, on behalf of the industry and the Board, I would like to thank Niran Peiris for his service to the Board this year," Whelan added.
"I also extend our appreciation to Colin Fagen, who stepped down as President several months ago, for his contributions to the Board and the industry since becoming a director in August 2011."
