IAT looks to Chubb, Travelers and CNA for management liability expansion
IAT Insurance Group, a provider of specialty property casualty and surety products, has expanded its management liability unit with the hiring of four new underwriters from Chubb, Travelers and CNA.
Joe Higgins joins as underwriting director while Lauren Drohan will serve as a senior underwriter. In addition, Kelly Mercey and Megan Furey will join as underwriters.
Higgins joins from Travelers, where he spent 14 years in several positions, most recently as an account executive officer for management liability. In that role, he underwrote insurance for private companies and non-profit organizations with coverages that included D&O, EPL, fiduciary, cyber liability, crime, kidnap and ransom, MPL and identity fraud. He graduated magna cum laude from Kean University.
Drohan was previously with Chubb as a senior financial lines underwriter. She also worked for Cincinnati Insurance Company as a commercial lines underwriter.
Mercey joins from Chubb where she spent the last three years as a management liability underwriter. Her experience includes D&O, EPL, fiduciary, crime and cyber coverages.
Furey previously served on the specialty team at CNA. Earlier in her career, she was a management liability underwriter with a managing general agent specializing in homeowner and condominium associations.
IAT launched the ML Pro Plus unit in April this year citing "strong demand" for directors & officers (D&O), employment practices liability (EPL), fiduciary, crime and cyber liability coverages.
Angela Rimgaila, AVP for management liability at IAT, said: “All four bring a strong foundation in management liability with diverse backgrounds and industry concentrations. Our underwriters collectively have a tremendous amount of experience and industry knowledge, giving brokers direct access to key decision makers.”
Joe Buffalano, VP for management liability, added: “The time and focus we invested to develop our management liability products and an intuitive underwriting system have allowed us to accelerate growth and profitability in this area. Ultimately our people and the depth of our underwriting expertise will ensure the continued success of the unit.”
