IAT Insurance Group taps underwriting leader from Travelers

US-based IAT Insurance Group, a provider of specialty property/casualty and surety products, has appointed Joe Buffalano as vice president of underwriting, management liability.

Buffalano joins IAT from Travelers Insurance where he most recently served as managing director of the bond & specialty New York/New Jersey metro region for private and not-for-profit management liability business since 2014. Prior to that, he was managing director of claims for New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and St. Louis at Travelers. Previously, he worked at Gulf Insurance, Kemper Insurance and AIG.

Buffalano brings more than 22 years of management liability experience to the position as IAT ramps up its launch of a new management liability unit ML Pro Plus.

He will be based out of IAT Insurance Group’s Newark office.

John Passaro, senior vice president of management liability, said: “Joe is an integral leadership addition for IAT as we build a top-tier, experienced team to bring our management liability products to the market.”
