Howden Tiger senior vice president James Matusiak dies following brief illness
James Matusiak, a former Bermuda re/insurance professional and most recently a senior vice president at Howden Tiger, has died following a brief illness.
Tributes have been paid and an education fund formed in memory of Matusiak, who passed away suddenly at the end of January. He is survived by his wife, Pam, and children Anna, Evelyn and Ian.
Matusiak started his career at Allstate before later working as a senior underwriter at RenRe, chief actuary at PXRe and at KPMG. Before moving to Howden Tiger, he was at Guy Carpenter.
David Flandro, head of industry analysis and strategic advisory, and former CEO of Howden Capital Markets, said: “Education was of the highest priority to James and will continue to be a strong foundation for the Matusiaks. James was so proud of Anna, who is in her first year at the University of Arkansas, studying nursing.”
To support the children, the Matusiak Children's Education Fund has been set up, with funds to go into individual college saving funds for higher education expenses and tuition. The fund has the goal of raising $45,000. As of Friday February 10, the fund had reached some $35,000.
