How automation, digitization and analytics are transforming claims

Automation, digitization and customer-centricity will be the key themes of the first-ever  Claims Innovation Virtual Event organised by Intelligent Insurer in October 2020.

The virtual conference, which was originally scheduled to be held in Miami, will be held across three days (October 26, 28, and 30) and feature over 30 speakers from across the insurance ecosystem, including personal lines, commercial lines, brokers, and new entrants. Over 1,000 attendees are expected throughout the week.

Speakers include chief claims officers and SVPs/VPs of claims from AAA, Arch Insurance, Founders Insurance Company, Generali, Germania Insurance, Kin Insurance, Liberty Mutual Insurance, Manulife, Markel, Mass Mutual, Metromile, Nationwide, Next Insurance, Oscar Health, Plymouth Rock, SCOR, Sompo International and Texas Mutual Insurance Company.

The event will cover the core issues impacting the claims function, with a focus on data and analytics - how advanced analytics is helping insurers triage claims more efficiently, getting a better view of exposure and improving the customer experience.

There will also be sessions that look at remote technologies to assess claims, and using claims data to benefit other parts of the business, especially underwriting.

Industry veterans from Hiscox, Aon, State Auto, Metromile, Arch Insurance and Plymouth Rock will be discussing subjects like the use of artificial intelligence in claims, how claims culture is changing, and the impact COVID-19 on the entire process, and the workforce.

Bryant Vernon, chief claims officer of Aviva Canada, who’ll be delivering one of the keynote presentations at the event, said: “We focus primarily on data and culture because these are two elements that drive transformation.

“Data is vital because you want to make informed decisions based on facts. Culture is key because culture is what helps you scale, and I believe that a culture of transparency and trust are foundational elements of any sustainable transformation strategy.”

Matt Sheridan, senior director of product marketing and strategy for Duck Creek, said: “We’re really excited about being involved in this conference. Duck Creek is dedicated to helping carriers achieve end-to-end efficiency improvements, exceptional customer experiences, and innovative, cutting-edge technology implementations. We are proud to sponsor this event, and look forward to participating alongside so many innovative thought leaders from the insurance industry. It’s great to have an opportunity to be part of the claims community in the absence of in-person events.”

Sponsored by Cloudera, Nuxeo, Verisk Analytics, and Duck Creek Technologies, the event will be free for insurers to attend, and the content will be available on demand post-event.
